Establish Yourself Through Blogging

I was asked by a friend whether or not he should blog. I said, ‘yes’. He asked, ‘why?’.

So, I wrote this blogpost to answer his question, because that’s how we roll.

Strangely enough I had to think about this. It’s not like I don’t know, but to sum it up in a coherent list just makes you go.., hmmmm.

Thusly, here are a few reasons why you should blog.

establish yourself through blogginSubject Matter Expert

Thanks @MarkHarai

Your knowledge is a precious commodity, but people need to know what you know for them to accept you as an expert. Writing articles for your blog can provide just that.

On-Line HQ

Having a place to call your own provides you with flexibility to change or improve your representation at will. Also, any content (you create) placed on your blog belongs to you, no matter what. Your site cannot be cancelled for making a small mistake and you never have to agree to any terms of use.

It’s the best place to direct people, because it will always be there.

Just make sure you have your own hosting. Tumblr, Blogger or WordPress.com do not provide this (WordPress.org does).

Network

Ideally you create a community around your blog. Visitors who comment or share your content are part of your community. By following up on them your network can grow.

You can direct new contacts straight to your blog, instead of a Twitter account or Facebook Page.

Own Your Brand

Personal branding remains a powerful tool in your arsenal. By setting up a blog (or your own homepage) you can establish your own style which you can use throughout various social media, emails, presentations or anything else with your name on it.

Creating a strong and recognisable brand is well worth the effort.

Solve Problems

This is more about what to write, but in the interest of adding value to your blog, helping people should be your goal. Providing articles which are genuinely helpful, without asking anything in return, will establish you as a trustworthy source of information.

People respond well to that.

Creative Outlet

Especially when you enjoy writing and spend enough time on your blog to get a good flow going. The rewards go beyond providing great content. The satisfaction of producing a good (looking) post can be significant. Also, remember that each post demands at least one image.

Using images created by you tackles any copyright issues you may encounter.

Educate Yourself

In the ever lasting quest for new (and better) content you have to keep developing. Always finding new subjects to write forces you to think creatively and learn new things.

Take Triberr to the Next Level with Reblogging! by @BrentCarnduff

Triberr Reblogging

Have you discovered reblogging on Triberr yet?  If not,  you’re missing out on a great opportunity provided by Triberr!

Are you . . .

. . . looking for more exposure for your content?

. . . looking for Guest Blogging opportunities?

. . . hoping that your content might be shared in syndication?

. . . needing more content to publish?

. . . interested in content curation?

. . . wanting to improve your SEO?

. . . trying to increase reader engagement?

If you’re on Triberr already, it’s pretty safe to assume that you’ve answered “yes” to at least one of these  questions, if not all of them – and that reblogging could be your solution!

What is Reblogging?

The Triberr Reblogging option allows you to repost other “Triberr Reblog” member’s content on your blog.

How Does it Work?

You need to be a member of Triberr (free!) and to be using the WordPress.org blogging platform.

Begin by installing the Triberr plugin on your blog.

Now, as you scroll through your Triberr stream, you can identify other “rebloggers” by the inclusion of an image in the introduction to their content, and the “reblog” link in the options at the bottom of the listing.

Identify reblog

To repost an article on your blog, click the “reblog link”, and the article will appear as a “draft” in your list of posts for your blog.

reblog draft

Preview the article and make any formatting changes that are necessary, and “Publish”. The article will appear on your blog, and thanks to the Triberr widget, the author’s bio and a Triberr Comment Box will appear at the bottom of the post.

Additionally, any comments that appear on ANY copy of this article, from another post or the Triberr platform, will appear as a running commentary stream on all blogs that carry it!

Did Someone Say “SEO Benefits”?

It’s in my nature to view everything from an SEO perspective, and Reblogging definitely offers SEO benefits. As well as providing more fresh content, each reblogged post will provide, at minimum, a link back to the original post from the author’s bio. In addition, any links within the body of the article will also remain live and become backlinks to that content.

Hard to believe it, but Triberr just got even better!

Thanks for reading. As always your comments, questions, or reblogs : ) are welcome and appreciated!

7 ways to reach readers beyond your fellow bloggers

blog_beyondYour Twitter followers are fellow bloggers.., your retweeters are fellow bloggers.., your commenters are fellow bloggers.

How do you reach people beyond that nice comfortable circle? How do you get new readers (non-bloggers)?

1) Don’t focus on Social Media

Your first concern for a blog is to assume your potential audience does not use social media. Well.., of course they use social media.., but most people use SoMe to connect and chat with other people.., and usually only with people they know. They do not search on these platforms for specific information.

They do, however, share content once found, so make your content share-able.
